Thank you for your interest in the “Serengeti Tracker” app.
This page explains how any personal data collected in the process of using this
application will be stored and used.
Records collected
by the application
Submitted records will be stored on a secure server where the
partner organisations can access them to aid with ongoing studies in the
Serengeti NP. Your records will also be shown to other users of the app. Your
details will not be passed on to anyone else.
Tracking data
When recording animals in the Serengeti National Park the app
will attempt to track your location. It does this simply by submitting your
location periodically in the background. This information enables researchers
to estimate effort spent looking for animals, which is an important metric in
determining abundance. Without this data the records we receive are much less
useful. If the app is inactive for some time you will be asked if you are still
on safari. Once you have finished looking for animals simply stop the tracking
either by using one of the prompts you will receive or from the menu.
Name
The first time you submit a record, you will need to create
an account. This is a quick and easy process and you
can either choose to login via an existing Google or Facebook account or you
can create a new account using an email address and password. Your name, as
specified in the app, will appear with your records and will be publicly
viewable.
E-mail address
To create an account you will need to supply your e-mail address.
This will only be used in order to validate your account and possibly, to send
you occasional relevant information about our projects. You will be able to
unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
How long will my data be stored?
Your submitted records will be stored indefinitely and will
be used to help the partner organisations work to better understand the fauna
within the Serengeti National Park.
Who will have access to my personal data?
No one outside of the partnership organisations will have
access to your email address. Unless required by law, data will not be made
available to any 3rd parties unless:
·
They are directly related to the project; and
·
We have obtained your permission to do so.
Third parties may include researchers and professional
scientists from outside the partnership.
Deletion of
personal data
If you wish to delete your account
and/or data submitted to the Serengeti Tracker app
please contact hello@natural-apptitude.co.uk
